The debate in Brazil is on freedom of Speech and Expression and at the centre are the social media users, including a man who calls himself “Anonymous Sucker.” In the past popular internet figure, Otário Anonymous in Portuguese had raised his voice against some of the fake advertisements and after a rigorous court hearing Google had to eventually bring the ad (a mutual fund ad) down. Google addresses many such cases every now and then, out of which maximum are from Brazil.
There were times when the people from Brazil were highly active on facebook and Twitter but then government asked google to bring down 756 election related pieces of content with immediate effect.
There is a constant ongoing debate on the future of the freedom granted to the netizens of the country and if any regulations are needed to be put into effect.
