Saturday, 26th September Miss Philippines who actually hails from US was chosen as Miss World 2013. Megan Young, 23, an aspiring film maker by profession was given the mentioned honor at Bali, Indonesia. Miss France and Miss Ghana were the declared runners up.
127 beauties participated in the pageant and competed for several rounds, out of which the top ten were selected. The contest witnessed a lot of protest from the Muslim population of Indonesia and the competition was denounced owing to which the swimsuit round was scraped off and was replaced by less revealing beachwear attire. The religious protests also caused a change in the venue of the final round from the outskirts of Jakarta to the Hindu resort islands of Bali.
Even after much ado the competition was held, managed and successfully executed.
