Ever imagined what happens to a Facebook profile after user’s death? Once you create a profile on Facebook, it stays there until users themselves deactivate their account. Then, how will Facebook and user’s Facebook connections know of the user’s demise.
Until now, Facebook did not have any feature to mourn for the loss of someone’s near and dear one. Jono Milner felt the same. In his words “it is a bizarre feeling to even post on someone’s wall who is no more amongst us.” With this idea, John Milner created the facebook app, Sanctri. Sanctri, presently in the beta version, is an app to create Facebook memorial of a particular person.
The memorial will be like any Facebook page/profile with the exception that these will be made in the memory of an individual person. You can create a Sanctri for a person, or a community for a group, you will automatically become the admin and can invite other friends and relatives to be a part of it. Along with the wall, where contributors can post images or comments, each page also has a Lifebook, which is essentially a digital scrapbook, split up into chapters, where you can add both text and images.
When users post on a Sanctri, they are given five prompts: contribute a thought, share a memory, post a song, pledge to do something in honor of the person or donate to charity.
