The very first music awards organized by YouTube were aired on November 3, 2013. The show witnessed large crowd from every walk of life every walk of life. The awards were divided into 6 major categories and were decided on the basis of number of votes received by each player in the music industry.
Awards went to the eminent rappers like Eminem and hip-hop duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. The show gained much response from YouTube channels rather than from being broadcasted on the television.
The music awards market is almost as crowded as the music market itself. YouTube featured big stars such as Lady Gaga to attract attention, while keeping enough of a viewer perspective to differentiate itself from MTV, the Grammys and other music powerhouses.
The first year of the show saw a great success which will give the Google owned company much courage to continue it next year and may be make it an annual thing.
