Beyonce’s surprise album release received around 1.2 million tweets within 12 hours of its launch. What’s interesting is that the album was released on iTunes without any marketing promotion. The new album has 14 songs and 17 videos.
Apparently, the lack of marketing promotion itself became a promotion strategy as the album became viral on social media as soon as it launched. The release created a lot of buzz on social media resulting in 5300 Tweets per minute, higher than the previous records by hubbub around Syfy’s Sharknado (5,000 Tweets per minute).
The song ‘Blue’ featuring Beyonce’s daughter Blue grabbed maximum attention of the viewers, The top five most trending songs on Twitter, as of 2 p.m. ET, were: 1 “Blue”; 2. “Mine”; 3. “Drunk in Love”; 4. “Flawless”; and 5. “Partition”. According to a Facebook spokesperson, “Beyonce” spiked more than 1,300% in the hours after the album dropped.
