Facebook’s Donate Now Button

In an effort to make a better Facebook, the company has decided to do something noble. Facebook has added a ‘Donate Now’ button on that allows users to contribute donate to nonprofit organizations using their credit/debit cards or PayPal accounts directly through the platform.

The embedded ‘Donate Now’ feature can be used to donate preset amounts of $10, $25, $100 or $250. If users come across a post from these organizations in their News Feed, they can donate using the same button embedded on the post. However, this button gives you the flexibility to choose your own amount instead of opting from the preset amounts.

Currently, Facebook has partnered with only 18 different nonprofit organizations including Boys & Girls Club of America, Livestrong Foundation and the World Wildlife Fund. But, Facebook is hopeful that the number will rise in the coming weeks.

Facebook first tested this feature in November enabling users to donate to Red Cross via Facebook for the deadly Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

The feature has been rolled out to users in US on December 16, 2013. However, neither the date for rollout for other countries, nor for mobile integration of the feature is declared.
