Twitter’s CEO, Dick Costolo, the man behind Twitter’s successful IPO, had a candid interview with Matt Lauer in “The Today Show” on Friday, December 6, 2013. The CEO shared jokes and an important goal: bringing a few high-profile female comedians to the service.
When asked about Costolo’s ‘white whale’ he shared his desire to bring Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Melissa McCarthy to the social media platform. Having a background of stand up comedy himself, Costolo’s desire was not surprising. When asked about him being the oldest man in the trio, he said, “To work with people who see what’s coming next because they use it every day is invigorating, it’s exciting.”
“It’s the 140 character constraint itself that makes the creativity of operating in that constraint beautiful.” “From a specific account, you have to speak with an authentic tone of voice, because in this day and age, with the ubiquity of communication we have, people can sense inauthenticity.” These were Costolo’s words who also feels that what creativity and what sanity a tweet can offer is totally dependent on the user, irrespective of any guidelines and rules imposed on them.
