The only place where Google was not prominent was at our homes. To bring about a change in this Google acquired Nest, a company that makes smart thermostats and smoke detectors, for $3.2 billion in cash. Although Google’s intervention into the household goods is an old occurrence with products like Google TV which though did not work for Google.
It now seems that Google is after smart thermostats and making them into a unique product to be used in every household just like its search engine. Users have used Twitter to comment upon the acquisition for many are still not able to understand Google’s move.
Google’s original mission to organize the world’s information now includes knowing what temp. I keep my thermostat at.

The CEO of Google, Larry Page said, “ We are excited to bring great experiences to more homes in more countries and fulfill their dreams!” The point of concern is that the CEO is also keeping his attention towards ‘homes’ a new field altogether where Google is now attempting to hoist their flag. Nest is a vision for what Google in the home could look like.
Not only does Google get the chance of acquiring the company but it also adds a number of talented employees with good experience which includes the CEO of Nest, Tony Fadell, who is credited with being one of the main designers of the iPod.
So seeing the vision Google has, soon enough it will be able to venture into the market of household goods.
