Mark Zuckerberg praises Snapchat

During an interview with the Stanford University President John Hennessy at the school’s Palo Alto, Calif., campus on 14th January, the Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg praised Snapchat saying it is a “super interesting privacy phenomenon.” During the interview a lot of topics were touched upon, when it came to Snapchat Zuckerberg offered a historical perspective considering that the social media giant Facebook had offered the company $3 billion just last year.

Mark agreed upon the fact that instant messaging does have a way with people/users owing to its quick responses and easy communications with groups.”A lot of times you’re not comfortable communicating it publicly, and maybe it’s just not worth communicating it to a small set or that’s not the full potential of what you want to communicate so you just don’t do it. It just gets lost,” he said. He further added, “Snapchat is a super interesting privacy phenomenon because it creates a new kind of space to communicate, which makes it so that things that people previously would not have been able to share, you now feel like you have place to do so. That’s really important, and that’s a big kind of innovation that we’re going to keep pushing on and keep trying to do more on, and I think a lot of other companies will, too.”

Facebook’s Tweak Privacy lets no users opt out of being searched and as such many users do not find it easy to share and communicate easily on the website. Though users can employ groups to exchange private status updates on Facebook, a common perception is that whatever you write there will be on the site forever, and all your Facebook friends will see it.

Facebook has tried to address to the issue but most of their tries have gone into vain. With Facebook’s try at Poke it is clear that the website is trying to work out a new innovation.
