The Chief Operating Officer of Yahoo is leaving the company just after 15 months of service as per the company in an SEC filing on 15th January. Henrique de Castro had joined the company in October 2012 after leaving the job at Google as a top executive.
Castro is considered to be Yahoo’s CEO Marissa Mayer’s biggest early hire and a notable poach from her former employer. But according to some rumors she is the one who fired Castro. According to an internal Yahoo memo obtained by Re/code, Marissa Mayer made clear that she fired de Castro. The memo read: “During my own reflection, I made the difficult decision that our COO, Henrique de Castro, should leave the company. I appreciate Henrique’s contributions and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
Though the man was an important figure in the company, was given a higher compensation than the CEO and was treated as an influential personality in the company. Off late he was under pressure for improving Yahoo’s advertising prospects. Time and again he found himself in a stand still and may be thats the reason he pushed himself out of Yahoo.
