About the Movie

Vetti Pasanga (Useless Folks) is an independent Tamil movie produced by Veedu Production Sdn. Bhd. The movie was released in 21 theatres in Malaysia on January 2, 2014 in Tamil, Malay and English. The movie won Silver Awards at International Conference on Informatics and Creative Multimedia, University Technology Malaysia and International Conference and Exposition on Inventions.

About the Campaign

The promoters of the movie launched a video contest with a sole intent to promote the goofiness of the movie among its target audience, the Tamil community in Malaysia.

Vetti Pasanga Dance Fever Contest invited people to submit a minute video of them and their friends “creatively” dancing to the tunes of Vetti Pasanga Theme song. Thus, a video contest app, powered by SocialAppsHQ was installed for this campaign which included the following important aspects:

Like Gate: The video contest app was like gated. So, each participant had to like the page in order to submit or view an entry. This helped Vetti Pasanga to promote their Facebook Fan page among their target audience.

Entry: Participants had to submit a minute video of them and their friends “creatively” dancing to the tunes of Vetti Pasanga Theme song. The participants were also encouraged to promote their entries for votes for a chance to get their hands of some cool gadgets and free passes of the movie premiere.

Prize: The top three participants based on the number of votes got a Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Tab 2 10.1 and Samsung Tab2 7.0 respectively along with couple passes for the movie premiere. 22 couple passes were also offered as consolation prizes.
